Today 22.03.24, another "Abbott Libre 2 tester"brought back his Scanner and shared his experiences, feelings and testimony with Tsotso, our "Pearl" in Lomé/Togo ...

This is a "WhatsApp Self-help Group", created by Mme. Esse Tsotso ANANI, our representative Diabetes Educator in Lomé. In the absence of resources and support, she resorted to free diabetes education for this group.

Sometimes the situation justifies applying the principle of division of labour as well as the principles of delegation.
One of the events planned during my 6-week stay in Togo (11.02.23 to 06.04.23), was to carry out a special diabetes screening with selected members of the Association des Assistants Médicaux du Togo (ASAMTO) Medical in Kpalime .
Unfortunately, I had to run an unexpected parallel programme on the same day.
However, I did send some materials such as glucometers and strips, which were successfully delivered.
A report and photos were sent to me and this is exactly what I want to share with the members of Diabetes Care West Africa e. V. and all my subscribers and non subscribers. V. members and all my Facebook subscribers and non-subscribers.
Now that I'm back in Germany, I have to work hard to prepare for World Diabetes Day in November 2023.

One good thing with my diabetes activities, it that it exposes me to rural localities where I would never dream of going, under normal circumstances: GBOTO-KOISSIDAMÉ.

The World Diabetes Day 2022 is come and gone. Though I was not personally present this this time but the opportunity cost of flying was invested in providing materials for the event.

Right now I have no better way to describe this Trip.
After 5 months of part-time jobbing, saving and collecting materials, I was able to buy my flight ticket and other needed materials for the trip.

The way I am treading on my diabetes program, I guess should make me call this phase "exploration of Diabetes Milky Way" in my West African region. A friend of mine, a diabetologist, as well as the director of an ONG, considered it necessary to invite me to visit him in Parakou (after receiving on several occasions, diabetes materials like Insulin, Metformin, Teststrips/meters, etc) from me.

We drove off from Lomé at 5:30am and because of bad road we got there 7:30. The hall, tables and chairs were already set and some people were already waiting. Later chief of the village came and after the normal protocol, declared the activity open.
